In regards to the contests and prize giveaways that we do on Q101.5, it is important that I make clear a few of the rules and stipulations we have in place. We do these giveaways as a show of our appreciation to YOU, our listeners. It is a WANT TO thing, not a HAVE TO. We enjoy doing it because its fun. But, unfortunately, when it comes to getting things for free, there are always some individuals out there who try to take advantage. Because of that, it is our job to regulate these contests and keep them FAIR. We don't believe that it IS fair to keep giving out prizes to the same individuals all the time. I often have people tell me that they are constantly trying to call in to answer contest questions, or be the designated caller for a pair of event tickets, and get nothing but a busy signal every time. Then there are others that somehow manage to get through several times over the course of one run of calls. I can't explain the technology behind our telecommunication system, and why that is, but that is what seems to happen. So, we do enforce a few rules to try keep any one listener, or group of listeners, from having any unfair advantages, and one is that there can only be ONE WINNER PER HOUSEHOLD every 30 days when it comes to daily prizes (such as our trivia challenge, NM Lottery Scratcher giveaways, or CCC Cultural Arts Performance tickets, etc). If you have won something within the last 30 days.... PLEASE DON'T TRY AGAIN UNTIL THAT 30 DAYS IS UP. We have recently had one individual call in and win several things over the course of a two or three week period and use a different name each time. I would REALLY hate to start asking our listeners to present I.D. when coming to pick up their prize, but if that kind of thing continues to occur, that is exactly what we may have to do. When it comes to the BIG prizes, like trips, or the Elton John concert tickets, and things of that nature, those prize winners will not be eligible to enter another big contest for a year, and will not be eligible for a smaller daily prize for 90 days.

I realize that contests will differ in nature, and manner in which they are competed for...and in the midst of that, loop-holes will be sought by those players like the one mentioned above. Just know that the loop-holes are constantly being tightened by Mike Summer and myself, NOT to make anyone angry, but to keep it FAIR. This sometimes requires us to make a judgement call in terms of qualification or disqualification, and please know we reserve the right to do that at our own discretion. As I said earlier...contests are supposed to be FUN. Those who try and take advantage not only suck all the fun out of it for US, but for all others who participate as well.
